Foreign investment in Mexico increased 10% in the first nine months of 2017

Mexico registered 21,754 million dollars in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first nine months of 2017, representing an increase of 10% over the same period of the year previous, reported today the Ministry of Economy.

Mexico, Nov 21 (EFE) .- Mexico registered 21,754 million dollars in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first nine months of 2017, representing an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. The same period of the previous year, informed the Ministry of Economy today.

During the administration of President Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018), the country accumulates a total of 163,157 million dollars in FDI, which exceeds by 3.5% the sexennial goal established in the National Development Plan 2013-2018.

Only in the third quarter of the year 5,716 million were captured dollars, with which it registered an increase of 32.5% with respect to the preliminary figure of this same period in 2016.

So far in 2017, FDI came from 2,662 companies with participation from foreign capital and new investments accounted for 40.3%.

Nearly half of foreign direct investment (47.8%) came from the United States. %), Canada (7.7%), Germany (6.3%) and Australia (5.7%), the Secretariat said.

In terms of sectors, the manufacturer accounted for 43.4%. construction (12.1%), financial services (11.3%), transport, mail and storage (11.2%) and commerce (7.4%).
